James Cameron Denies the Rumors About Him Making a Film on Titanic Submersible Disaster

Titanic director James Cameron has denied the “offensive” rumors that said he was in talks to make a disaster film about the tragic story of OceanGate’s Titan submersible.

Cameron confirmed that he has no plans to ever make a film about the sub that imploded and killed all five people aboard on its way to see the wreck of the Titanic.

“I don’t respond to offensive rumors in the media usually, but I need to now. I’m NOT in talks about an OceanGate film, nor will I ever be,” Cameron wrote.

Speaking to ABC News, Cameron said he was “struck by the similarity of the Titanic disaster itself, where the captain was repeatedly warned about ice ahead of his ship and yet he steamed at full speed into an ice field.”

OceanGate’s Titan sub began its expedition to the wreck of the Titanic on 18th of June, 2023, and it went missing about an hour and 45 minutes into its journey. After four days, a debris field was discovered that led officials to believe a catastrophic implosion had occurred in which all the five passengers were killed.
